Yvon Wang is currently working on a book project about pornography as the intersection of sexuality, print, law enforcement, and cultural authority in early modern and 20th-century urban China. Other interests include the history of everyday consumer goods, popular culture, and comparative/global history. They have published articles on pornography, sodomy, and "hooligans" in Modern China, The Journal of Asian Studies, and Nan nü.

前現代中國的色情媒體流通限於男性菁英的社交圈，合法/非法的慾望界定與政治權力掛鉤。明清的木版印刷帶來革命，挑戰了the ideology of yin，清末的攝影促成情慾民主化。近代早期到現代中國也有連續性：知識份子繼續劃定好和不好的情慾，國家試圖控管色情媒體，性科學論述混合了房中術的語彙。四平八穩又總覺得少了什麼，對porn studies的回顧很潦草、一個觀點總是翻來覆去地說，強調的跨國部分篇幅極少，最後也沒說明白中國的案例到底怎麼介入了porn studies07-29
