The book is not without its limitations. Chatman composes his work in a dualist and formalist model. Things he distinguishes like story and discourse, form and substance, interior monologue and stream of consciousness, etc. are in a way “well-formed”. And a lot of ideas are very fascinating to me. 查reference就顺便过了遍英文版，读上去比中文版要好，尽管还是略琐碎，典型地挑起了千端话头但又有心无力一一讨论的那种。此外最近无比深刻的感受是果然读什么都绕不开亚里士多德。11-04
